5-16-23   THOUGHTS

As I read the psalm below, there seems to be a certain “simple and just peace”  inherent in the way God deals with men.  That peace will not accrue to us without faith and trust in our God!  Our learning to be content with what we have is encouraged by God’s word.  The power of a positive “mindset”  is in the words “delight yourself in the Lord.”  As we pursue the words and thoughts of eternity, we learn to “not fret”  over the things of this world.  We move in growth and learning toward God and away from the world!  We become planted and rooted in right! Truly, better is a little in God’s presence, than much in the strife and turmoil of this world.  If we can see it, this scene plays out daily in what we call news.  We may never inherit the land, but we will inherit God’s presence, now and eternally!  I pray that you are near to Him now!

Ps 37:1-16   Do not fret because of evildoers, Be not envious toward wrongdoers. 2  For they will wither quickly like the grass And fade like the green herb. 3  Trust in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. 4  Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. 5  Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it. 6  He will bring forth your righteousness as the light And your judgment as the noonday. 7  Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.  8  Cease from anger and forsake wrath; Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing.  9  For evildoers will be cut off, But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.  10  Yet a little while and the wicked man will be no more; And you will look carefully for his place and he will not be there. 11  But the humble will inherit the land And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity. 12  The wicked plots against the righteous And gnashes at him with his teeth. 13  The Lord laughs at him, For He sees his day is coming. 14  The wicked have drawn the sword and bent their bow To cast down the afflicted and the needy, To slay those who are upright in conduct. 15  Their sword will enter their own heart, And their bows will be broken. 16  Better is the little of the righteous Than the abundance of many wicked.

Eccl 2:26    For to a person who is good in His sight He has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, while to the sinner He has given the task of gathering and collecting so that he may give to one who is good in God’s sight. This too is vanity and striving after wind.
Isa 30:15  For thus the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said, "In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength."    But you were not willing,

My Prayer:
Father, keep us from fretting over the things of this world.  Teach us the right way that leads to peace.  Help us to know contentment in every circumstance.  May we learn that it is more blessed to give than to receive.  May we learn that right thought ends in fruit.  Keep us from the frenzied activities of worldly life, and help us to make space in our lives for You to occupy. May we abide in Your presence.     In the name of the One who saves us,     Amen.
